A patent is not the beginning of the story
The invention began with a two-person process, a visit to a logistics exhibition, and many small observations at the receiving bench. The patent document is the formal trace; the real design history lives in the nine stories before this one.
The right later expired because the maintenance annuity was not paid. That changes the legal status of the right, but not the fact that the system was invented, filed, examined, and registered.
